I was talking to some kid the other day about music. I think it was a niece or nephew, can remember. Anyway, he or she was surprised that I didn't like the Beatles. The exact quote was, "I thought all old people like the Beatles."

My two older sisters loved the Beatles, so when I was little in the 60`s, and they were teenagers, they pounded it into my little brain. That goes for Elvis too. My mom was crazy for Hank Williams and Conway Twitty.

Arlie;
Speaking of the beatles, I remember our favorite song when cruising was "Why Don't We Do It In The Road". I think we've all dated ourselves now. We'll be tagged as the Old Farts Gang.

How about "The Band", "The Allmon Brothers" and "Santana"
Speaking of Sisters and music. We took a driving trip from LA to Canada. The only tape in the car the one my Sister brought (cassettes were new back then) was The Best of Buffalo Springfield - Retrospective. To this day I have the whole album memorized. I think I'm going to have to throw it on just for old times sake. Gotta go

By the way if you ask my kids if they like the Beatles, they reply "what does a beetle look like?" and "what kind of beetle?"

My old what?

Oh, you meant you're old. Got it.

Being old has its advantages, and as soon as I think of one I'll post it.

I tell my wife, "I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was."

Uh, yes.

May I assume that Rupert, Idaho is the purest definition of "the middle of nowhere"?

Too bad they couldn't have taken the G5, they got stuck with the Hawker instead.

Never been there myself but you're probably right. That's more in Black Pearl and HookedTrout's area.

So what 10 or 20 songs would you put on an all-time greatest hits cd?

Thinking..thinking. OK here goes. Most of these are probably ones no one has heard of. I usually don't go for the title track or radio hit. They're in no particular order either.

Black Sabbath: Paranoid
Deep Purple: Highway Star
Flight of the Rat
Blue Oyster Cult: E.T.I.
Feel the Thunder
ME262
Head East: Never Been any Reason
UFO: Couldn't get it Right
Just Another Suicide (Both from the live album)
Ted Nugent: Queen of the Forest
Just What the Doctor Ordered
Judas Priest: Breaking the Law
Living After Midnight
Nazareth: Expect no Mercy
Iron Maiden: Cross Eyed Mary (From their European picture disc)
Foghat: Fool for the City
Rock and Roll Outlaw

Like I said, the one your mother warned you about.

Never cared for the Beatles myself. Wound up with two of their albums back in the '70's at a party at my house. Some of my stuff disappeared and these were in their place. Anyone care for original copies of "Meet the Beatles" or "Hey Jude". They haven't been played in 30 years.

By the way Arlie, thanks for starting this string. It's been fun.
Don, you've put in a lot of time in shitty places for us. Thanks just isn't enough.

I grew up with Live music from AC/DC at our local pub, who would have thought that a bunch of rat bags would grow up to be rock stars.

But my collection is peppered with Jimi Hendrix , I gotta thing for guitar music.

these days its more likely to be Ben harper or James Blunt.

Well Steve, if you`re just going to throw those old albums out or something, I guess you could send them to me. :icon_ecst

Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd
Paradise by the Dashbord Lights – Meatloaf
