Rhonda, I don't know all the technical history or stats about it. Only that it's a cast iron cased intermediary between the C4 and C6. I put over 230K miles on my yellow 351W Mach and found it able to take alot of abuse. It's never failed me...

I'm curious now too, perhaps some other folks can enlighten us further.

Somewhere up in the Sierra foothills, there is a dark green "senior class" concours "perfect" 1970 Mach 1, that belongs to an old friend of mine from San Diego.

We once took it as part of the SD Mustang Club event to Tijuana....and hoped thet we weren't hit in intersections, despite protection from the Federalies.

That was probably one of two of the best Mustangs I'd ever seen in concours condition--and fast, too.

How about if I promised to treat it as if it were yours instead of mine?

I want dibs on driving your 390 GT/CS or your sweeeet 69 Mach 1 428 CJ! I`d love the chance to drive a car with a big block again. My husbands truck had a 460 and that was really cool.

I was lucky enough to drive Tim's 428 Mach the other day. I was amazed at how far the secondaries opened. Smooth TOO. I didn't want to push it to far, Low triple digets were fine. (It helps to know all the CHP in that area personally). Ha Ha. It reminded me of the "Gone in 60 Seconds" (Original version) where they had the camera view of the hood while passing everything on the freeway. Thanks Tim. I Highly recommend it, BUT only to qualified drivers. Ha Ha. BTW, The engine goes in mine on Friday. YEA. MIke
ps. Remember, I am a highly trained professional driver.

Well let's see, I used to have a '70 Maverick that I put a tri-power 302 in, a '72 R code Mach 1, and currently have a '73 Q code Mach 1, 71 Boss 351 and a Sunbeam Tiger (in addition to my CS). My name is Rvrtrash and I come here "occasionally". Where's the keys?

Yes, Mark DeGroff in North Holywood rebuilt it. All to original GT 390 specs. He did the long block .030 over, original heads, waterpump, etc. but the block had to be replaced. I found a block with a Mustang vin stamped on it 1,356 #s off from mine, that is 2 days in production. I figured that was about as close as I would come. I have since finished the engine to TOTAL CONCOURS specs. I will post some pictures soon. My wife Robinette and I are making this OUR Project to do together. She keeps asking if she can help, and I feel rotten telling her NO, as the project I am working on at the time is a one person operation. This is her chance to get involved. I will start another thread when appropriate to finish this discussion, I don't want to get of topic here. Mike

Yup. yup I qualify. I also received an award years ago at work when I had a company fleet car for " Gaining enough torque in a 6 cylinder Maverick to twist the drive shaft off and send it rolling down Harbor Blvd." They actually mounted the twisted drive shaft on a board and presented it to me. But...does that award send me to the joedls/david athans bin?:::::::::worried look:::::::::biting nails:::::::::::

Rhonda, OH, I INTEND TO DRIVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! Want to hit a few shows first to see what kind of points I can get.
Donna, I must admit, That's impressive to twist a driveshaft off with a six.
Tim, I think it's worth an honorable mention. Mike

...OK - I'll bend the rules: "joedls" and 'david athens" can apply if they bring their (supercharged and 12 sec. respectively) cars for me to drive :)

'Also want to say how nice it was having Mike along when we did an extended test drive of the '70 Mach I which was non-opped w/ yr. 2000 tags! He said "No worries - right now is the CHP shift change and their office is near the donut shop" He was right - no Highway Patrol anywhere! ;-)

Oh Donna, you definately qualify! I did place an order tho for your "Maverick Torpedo" award to be presented upon your next arrival.
