Hello All,
My first authentication of my CS was as a result of this site, I had not purchased the vehicle yet and the owner was a little Vague on its authenticity. It had been resto-modded which also made me extremely sceptical to start with. (White Paint exchanged for Black and J code engine for R code).
But i wanted a special and this seemed like a reasonable buy, also I missed Jason's maroon car by about 2 weeks and i was getting anxious on making a deal for a special in time for an impending visit to the US. (Pick , Pack & ship visit)
So what to do - well I searched this sites gallery photo by photo (took me ages) looking for a similar VIN number to mine - low and behold i stumble on a Vin # that is 1 digit before mine.
Now i know Vin isn't a guarantee but a few other tips on identification and this little story was about to unfold in my favour. Later i did get a basic Marti and this confirmed the deal.
So - I do owe Miller 511 a great deal of thanks for posting his details in the gallery, I may still have bought the car - but this info made me feel a lot more at ease with Authenticity.
Anyway both mine and millers car were shipped to Marv Tonkin ford in Oregon (So they really are brothers).
I and Miller have been asking other members in the research game to track down anything relative to Marv Tonkin - particularly a License plate frame. well it didn't take long for Super Sleuth and down right fantastic CS site member Donna to come up with the goods , Donna offered this 1 frame to myself because of my distance from the US - but i Know she felt torn as Jeff (Miller 511) was vehemently chasing the same and they are becoming Rare as Rocking Horse you know what.
So here is the plan - Casey are you out there ???????????????????? If you can replicate the attached photos - I will buy your replica (My car is a Resto Anyways) and send the original to Jeff if he is still keen ??
Yes i could have done this by PM or Email , but then I thought it was a bit of trivia that might interest others - particularly if your car was shipped to Marv Tonkin Ford.
