1968 Power Brake Booster Rebuild Recommendations

In looking into this when doing a couple of my '68s some time ago I found most seemed to think the Midland style is correct for a '68. I recall seeing something once-upon-a-time that the mounting was slightly different between the two (stud/bolt locations), not sure if that is correct or not. The Bendix did use a mounting plate, mostly noted for 69-70, see WCCC site here:

As for color I believe for '68 semi-gloss black is the go for both booster and master cylinder (some refs I have note cast iron for the MC too, not sure if its a plant or timing thing, or both.) and semi-gloss black for the cap w/stamped warning and decal to suit. (have seen debates on the MC cap for 390s some indicate chrome dress up to go with the valve covers, lid and rad cap)

The one I have worked, but looked atrocious. I broke the plastic nipple for the vacuum removing the engine. The mc also looked the same. So I want to make it look presentable. Booster Dewey said band type. I wanted to get it plated, but if it doesn't need to look that way it would be a saved expense. Since I still need a carb and wires.

The check valves are easy to break in removing, they become quite brittle in the heat of the engine compartment over time. Easy to source a replacement, I think '68 Midlands used the two nipple style with the small port capped.

Run about $20 with the gasket and cap.

The Midland with clamp and spacer was used until early 69. The entire assembly was painted as one unit Booster/Spacer/Master in Semi Gloss Black and the decal on top of the master lid. The Black valve is the correct one and the White are later replacement.

To help clarify, were Bendix units also used in the 68/69 era?

67-68 used Midland as well as early 69 models built in July-November. For the 69 calendar year forward the Bendix was used consistently.

Booster Dewey said for me to send them $15. And they will send out a new one.

So how did it come out? Is the last photo on page 1 the final product? What finish are the boosters suppose to be? Disc brake boosters from the factory came with the band type? Mine is a replacement product with no band.

Sorry for not replying sooner. Had a lot going on the last few months and haven't been on the site. Happy New Year everyone!

Looks like most of the questions were answered but here are pictures of the final product. The master cylinder is a new unit.
I was happy with the results although I can't speak for the actual workings yet. As I mentioned due to some personal stuff going on we haven't actually reinstalled the booster yet.

Cosmetically it looks great and I was happy working with Karps. They included the spacer and filter as you can see in one of the pictures.
