In looking into this when doing a couple of my '68s some time ago I found most seemed to think the Midland style is correct for a '68. I recall seeing something once-upon-a-time that the mounting was slightly different between the two (stud/bolt locations), not sure if that is correct or not. The Bendix did use a mounting plate, mostly noted for 69-70, see WCCC site here:

As for color I believe for '68 semi-gloss black is the go for both booster and master cylinder (some refs I have note cast iron for the MC too, not sure if its a plant or timing thing, or both.) and semi-gloss black for the cap w/stamped warning and decal to suit. (have seen debates on the MC cap for 390s some indicate chrome dress up to go with the valve covers, lid and rad cap)
