OK, I've got a bit of a conundrum on my hands.

The top and bottom nuts on my rear shocks are rusted solid. I soaked them in penetrating oil to no avail, even using vice grips on the stud won't let me break the nuts loose.

Have any of you run into this problem? Is it time to break out the Dremel?

I use a pipe wrench on the shock body and a 1/2 drive impact on the nut. It will either come off or break.

I don’t have an impact but I do have a breaker bar and a 3# hammer.
Are the cordless electric impacts any good?

The breaker bar will work, most likely will snap the stud. Electric impacts are the way to go. You can take them with you to the junk yard.

Didn't even break any shafts. I forgot that I have a nut-splitter so I used it on the bottom nuts. The impact wrench zipped the top nuts off with no trouble.

On another topic, does the sound deadening shown in the photos look original or aftermarket? It seems to be one continuous sheet. I had to cut it to access the shock access holes.

I assume you're referencing this.
I have no idea how that happened. It must have been one of the garage gnomes.

Shortly after that mysterious incident Mike Jewel insisted I hang this sign on my garage wall.
