No there was no fight and no name calling. My husband met a lady on a chat site on the internet and it turned out like a "Fatal Attraction". He could`nt get her to leave him alone and had to tell her the truth that he was married and so he contacted the show and within 2 days we were on a flight to Chicago. He started it as a joke to see how much one person could actually believe. He told her he was working for the government and flew secret missions and partied with the presidents daughters at the white house. Our segment was very boring. She was mad but did`nt show it too much. After the show and we went our seperate ways. Her and I became email pals and we were sending Christmas presents for each others family by that following Christmas. I have`nt talked with her in about 8 months. She went in for gastric bypass surgery to lose weight, last I heard.

Wow! Well I sure hope she gets her life back together. Didn't mean to pick on you Rhonda but when you say 'Jerry Springer Show', that's a loaded subject! And I'm really glad you didn't get into a fight....it just doesn't sound like you!

I live in Eastern Carolina. I retired from the United States Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in 2002, after 20 years service. I attended college for 4 years to become a School Teacher, but (thankfully) changed my curriculm and graduated with a degree in Network Administration Information Technology. I am currently a State Employee here in North Carolina, IT Specialist (Computer Tech) for the local School System. My hobbies have always been working on cars, U.S. Coin collector, and Amatuer Radio. I went from Mustangs to VW's resortations, and (thank goodness) back to Mustangs.

You were`nt picking on me Donna. I always get that when I let the cat out of the bag about being on that show. She had already met someone on the internet and had let him move in, install a swimming pool in her back yard (she paid for it) and got his name on the deed to her house. She had to pay him $10,000.00 to get his name off the deed and to move out. When Jerry Springer asked her twice if she had ever met someone on the net before she lied and said "no" both times, although she had told the producers the true story. She worked for the state in a northeastern state. She got into trouble with her job. but got through that I guess.

Hi Steve,

I have a friend in Charlotte, NC that was at that camp around the same time I think his brother was as well. He owns a big DJ Entertainment company down there. Rolling Thunder. Chris P. is his name and his brother is Steve.

...Rhonda, you were the one who always said 'we're family here'. That's one of the things I'm beginning to like about this site. I admire your courage and honesty :)

I don't think I know him, two of my Brothers live in Charlotte, and one was in the Marine Corps, the other in the Navy. My little brother was also in the Marine Corps and now lives in Redmond, WA and works for Boeing.

I figured it was worth a shot to ask. They both joined the Marines late in life - lates 20's and early 30's. They fought through it all - something to be proud of.

OK, back to the topic at hand.

I am currently in college studying Nuclear Engineering (Bachelors Degree) with one semester left :icon_ecst . Then I am headed off to the Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers. It has been a rough set of four years for the Army football team, maybe next year :frust: -Thanks for the support Rich. I look forward to joining the service like those before me and those currently serving. My hobbies include fishing, NASCAR, restoring and driving my cars, traveling around the U.S. and hiking. Additionally, home will be in the Houston area (Magnolia), soon as the house in CA sells; I hope to meet Jason and Arlie.

I think that it's amazing how a string of Mustangs, built in some cases the same week, can find homes by such a wide variety of owners 38 years later.

It goes without saying how proud I am to belong to this fine group of folks. I especially honor those of you that are in (or were in) the military. We all work hard every day, and do some great things, yet we all enjoy the same type of vehicle.

This puts a clearer and greater perspective on who I have known for years by mail. I am extremely impressed! This puts a greater value on my work, and tells me how important it is to provide the best research and information about the GT/CS for all of you.

I think that at this point (of no return), we're gonna have to get together someday--to meet--and to bring these same cars together!

It is a great pleasure to meet all of you.

I agree with Paul. When I started this thread, I first didn't think people would respond. But, I am glad folks have and think it is really cool to see what everyone does for a living and the different hobbies we have. Then, to be pulled together with one common thread - the GT/CS and HCS.

Very cool. Thanks to everyone who responded and if you have not yet, please do!!

Yes Paul that was an excellent idea to ask what people do for a living and hobbies! Very very interesting thread. I often wonder what I have in common with other people and if it's Mustangs that's really great but I always felt like a fifth wheel when nobody knew what a CS was. At car shows when people don't seem to appreciate a CS very much... I ask them to look around...belly button cars, 57 Chevy's etc. ( yes, I love those cars too BUT!) everybody has one. They are a dime a dozen to me. I ask them 'When is the last time you saw one of THESE?' And they usually say they've never seen one before.
So it is of great pleasure to me to have all of you as my other family. We GET it.
As for hobbies, I like to sew, read,walk/hike,go to car shows, boating, swap meets,TRAVEL,anything to do with being outside.I was with my husband for 19 years but am widowed now, no children (I forgot to have them) and I just LOVE animals, especially dogs. I am dogless right now, last Valentines Day I had to put down one of my dogs and two weeks later the other one. I have had three Siberian Huskies and a Golden Retriever mix that I rescued off the street. WOW what a dog!
Oh, I have a warped sense of humor too.
Thank YOU ALL for welcoming me to this site!

Like a few of you on the site I'm retired Air Force/Air National Guard and worked as an air traffic controller, hence my current career continuing to work air traffic. Love the job and the $$, just hate the hours and having to deal with government bureaucracy.
I have a new-found appreciation for the California Special, you folks on this site that provide so much help to us all, and to Paul with his books and registry. Thanks for letting me be a part of it!

Where were you stationed in the Air Force and Air National Guard?

I was stationed at Seymour-Johnson 84-86, then the Kansas Air National Guard (184th) in Wichita from 86-2002.

Rhonda, I think I watched that episode on Springer, not that I would ever watch that kinda tv....LOL. But really, I think I did see it.

As for me, I am a retired First Sergeant in the United States Army, I spent 20 years in the Armor Force as a Master Gunner, 13 years over seas, two armed conflicts. Retired here in Virginia, now work for the Army's Training and Doctrine Command as the Live Fire Training Range Program Manager.

Enjoy the challenge of restoring old cars and traveling. Three daughters, three son-in-laws all serving in the Army, two in Iraq, five grand children, and a 3 year old son, a little boy who is the apple of his dad's eye. Can you say SURPRISE? or WHOOPS? or even perhaps his possible name of "slim to none" if you catch my drift....lol.

Really enjoyed reading everyone's post, thanks for sharing! Sounds like a great bunch of folks!!!!!!!!!
