Steve, for me that was just an odd way of saying you have another unique & beautiful car.

Joe would make much better "son" I'm sure. ....Except for his allowance! He will hit you up at least three times a year to replace the rear tires. Make him work for it!!!
;-) ;-) ;-)

I'm sure you're way too young to have a son as old as Tim :icon_ecst

Vin Border decals are available through National Parts Depot. NPD. I just received one for my GT/CS. They are on page 185 of their current catalog. Price, $15.00 Part #D-MC205 I found NPD has a lot of Concours decals and stickers. Mike

Speedy, Looking at the picture of your VIN tag, You can probably clean it up with a Scotch Brite pad, providing it is not corroded to badly. Once you clean it up, then apply the decal. Mike

I think Tim and I are about the same age----old. I seem to be in about the middle of most people's ages here, within 10 years plus or minus. :icon_dead

Thanks for the compliment, Tim. As for the allowance, it's snowing right now and I need my sidewalk shoveled. Where is that kid at?

Joe, somethings are just down right mean and nasty. That is one of them. To tell someone you are going to hop in your drop top and drive while others are shoveling snow. What's wrong with kids today? LOL Now I see why you are not getting the other ragtop from your pop. Mike

Anyone know if you can the VIN tag in the window redone also.

Not legally. From my understanding Kevin use to provide that service but after some problems with a person or two he was told no more or Ford would cut him off from all access.

Sure someone out there can do it ... but lots of federal laws that can be to prosecute whomever dose

How do you guys feel about switching vin's?? If I can find a nice clean body car i thought about transfering the vin from the CS/GT to a clean body that has most of the parts.

I think that's considered a felony, but check with a lawyer in your state to be sure. At the very least I think it's unethical.

I agree, NOT a good idea to swap VIN tags. That's akin to a chop shop activity. I checked to see if I could get a replacement during my restoration. The general consensus was that it couldn't be done. So, I restored my existing VIN using the original numbers. I won't go into detail how I did it, but it wasn't complicated and it looks new. I'll post a picture later if anyone wants to see it. I can provide details if someone wants to know how I did it.

California Vehicle Code (CVC) section 10750 (a) No person shall intentionally deface, destroy, or alter the motor number, other distinguishing number, or identification mark of a vehicle required or employed for registration purposes without written authorization from the department, nor shall any person place or stamp any serial, motor, or other number or mark upon a vehicle, except one assigned thereto by the department.
(b) This section does not prohibit the restoration by an owner of the original vehicle identification number when the restoration is authorized by the department.

This is a California vehicle code, and would very in your state. Check with your department of motor vehicles, or Highway Patrol concerning laws in your states. There are only about six Felonies in our CVC, which has 42,277 seperate laws. This is one of them that can be charged as a felony. If you are restoring your GT/CS, and have supporting documents, and the damaged VIN tag, I don't see why any DMV will argue restoring or replaceing with a new tag of same #.

I hope this helps. DO NOT SWITCH VINs on cars. It is illegal, unethical, and FRAUD!!!!!! Fraud, HUMMMMMMMMMM, lets see, NOW THAT IS CRIMINAL IN ITSELF. In California, Fruad over $400.00 is a FELONY. Punishable by imprisonment in the STATE PRISON!!!!!!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Don't think of doing that again.

GOOD LUCK. Mike

Well thats not something I wanted to do anyways. I had a guy recommand that because he was like you can't fix rust and you can't weld new parts to rust either. So I was needing feedback thanks everyone.

You can fix rust. You cut back the metal to where you have something solid to weld to and put in a replacement piece. I'm doing the same thing right now (I was actually out cutting and grinding to fit last night) and body shops do it all the time.
