My old GT/CS apparently had a rough ride across the Atlantic and was kissing the ends of the shipping container. I am trying to assist the new owner in finding suitable replacements, but have never done a restoration and have little knowledge about which of the repops are the "better" ones that fit nice and look good. Any assistance from the giant GT/CS knowledge base will be greatly appreciated:smile:

It all depends on what you are wanting. For a driver the repro bumpers are good they are made in Taiwan and should last for several years. If you want show quality then take your originals or find originals and have them re-chromed. You can't beat an original Ford bumper.

Cheers,

Ron

Saturday I had a guy come to my shop who is cleaning up a junky property in my small town to say he fonnd some mustang stuff I might want. He had a rusty 65-66 fastback rear folddown seat assembly and interior quarter covers but what really interested me was a New Old Stock 1967 Mustang rear bumper that was still in the Ford wrapper.I looked at the date code and it was made in 1968. I could not belive it had been just blocks from me since I was in high school. I am glad He checked before he pushed it all in!

Hi Eric,
I did not post about the NOS bumper trying to sell it. I am restoring a concours trailered High Country Special and have a Ford replated bumper for it. I may use the NOS one. Either way I may have one to sell, I'll let you know. Marty

Hi again Marty
Let me know if you decide to sell one of the two , we will probably take it even though we managed to repair the original one but since it is so hard for us to find parts being in Malta Europe I would't mind having a spare , also if you come across an original front bumper in decent condition please let me know cos I'd rather rechrome an original than use a repro.
Great job you've done there on your HCS ,I just spent some time looking at all the pics
Well nice to have spoken to you I hope we can be in touch in the future , if you are interested you can see some Mustangs we have in sunny little Malta on our Face Book page Mustang enthusiasts Malta and even better become a friend there too
My regards
Eric

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the kind words. I have a front Ford core that I have saved to be rechromed. I would sell it. I loved the pictures of a blue 72 Mach I from Malta in the Mustang Times and it is in the 2012 MCA calender too. Marty

I'd be happy to buy it from you if you're willing to sell it and ship it to us , That Mach I is ours and I wrote the story and took the photos too , It was the best thing that happened to my father seeing his Mustang as a surprise on the Mustang Times , he described it as winning a lottery . This GT/CS will not have a restoration done soon because we're restoring the 64& 1/2 at the moment(will send you pictures of that too ) and my father wanted a car that is in decent condition that's good to go and he is getting old to spend the retirement restoring cars so its going to be up to us to do a restoration on the GT/CS , but I know for sure we will do some day and I want to start collecting certain parts that will make the car look as good as you seen the Mach I .
I will leave you with that for this time and hope to hear from you soon with a price for the front bumper too and while we're at it give me a price for the rear too .I promise you that you'd be proud to see them on the car when its ready and restored one day and who knows maybe even get you interested to come visit our lovely island too.
Until we speak again
I send you my regards
Have a nice evening
Eric:wink:

My bet is they are the new bumpers produced by Dynacorn or Goodmark. I haven't seen them yet, but I may order one just to check it out.

Cheers,

Ron
