<~~~~~~Me, being the lady that I am...would not find that ad attractive. There are women bidders out here too.
And if it had a beefcake model it wouldn't impress me any more.
Just the car please.

I find those marketing ploys annoying, but they have always been believed to work, and probably will always appear sometimes.

Even some vintage Mustang and Cougar ads from the mid to late '60s of Cougars and Mustangs had models with the cars, and some ads had copy that said your social life would improve if you went and bought a new Mustang. (The quiet bookish librarian who bought a new '66 Mustang all of the sudden got lots of dates!)

Yeah, but they had on more clothes back then and they looked their age, not like 13 year olds. I still don`t believe the model in the auction in this thread is even over 15.

Marie, Donna,
I would buy a car despite the distractions of the advertisement and not because of it

A huge controversy erupted when Ford Motor Company published ads for the new Volvo cars, in a GAY publication, featuring the emergency brake posed in a phallic position

I saw that and personally thought it was horrible and disgusting, though a little bit funny also, but I had gay friends and neighbors, co workers etc when I was in San Francisco, (another world than everywhere else, believe me) so I suppose that gave me a different perspective on things

My first car, a 1964 Chevelle, actually belonged to a family, Sisters of the Holy Family, a convent of Catholic Nuns on a nearby Marin County Calif. street where I grew up, who sold the car because "the guarantee ran out and they were afraid something might go wrong with the car"

I bought it, and nothing ever did! ( I wish that car has been a California Special!!!)

No stories went with that car, you can bet the car had PERFECT ashtrays!!

Jim
