I hate calling it Cory's book in the titles of these topics as it isn't mine it's all of ours.

Anyway I need to send out a little information as I'm getting some questions so I'll try and answer them here so everyone gets the same answers.

First, please don't let the details of what you need to send me on your story discourage you from taking part. Your story can be as simple as "My name is Willard and this is my CS and I love it" If that's all you want for your story that is fine. We'd like to know some details on the car color, engine size, tranny and basic stuff along with how long you've owned it and what you have done with it but it isn't necessary if you don't want to divulge that info. On the other hand if you have a long history with your CS HCS and you want to share then share away, we love the personal stories, crashes, races, whatever.

If you have signed up to be a part please get your story done and saved on your PC so you can send it immediately when I request that information from you, it will speed this process up immensly, I will send you a request personally when I'm ready. You can type your story up in email and send it or Microsoft Word.

Second, Don't worry about the condition of your CS for photos, mine is in need of a restoration and I plan to polish up the old fadded CS regardless and have fun taking pictures and put them in the book, they will mean a lot once I do restore it.

Third, I've pulled some photos from the gallery here and so far they are too small in format for the book, not sure if that holds true on all of them but that is my experience thus far. I would suggest if you want good quality photos in the book get ahead of the game and take advantage of the first nice day and get some pictures with a digital camera, save them as JPEG's and have them ready to send to me when I personally request them from you. The details on size are in the original email for the book.

And last but not least, please make sure you follow the topic on how to get signed up for the book in detail, I'm getting PM's through the web with the "Me In Book" as a subject. I'm not using PM as a way to sign up here in the forums and I don't want to miss anyone. I need you to send me an email to my personal email as described in the original sign up topic.

Feel free to use my personal email or PM to ask questions and keep asking so we can get them all addressed, either way works but you need to email me through my personal email if you want in the book.

Thanks, Cory

Arlies Chapter as an Example!

Here are some screen shots of Arlies chapter which is the first member chapter in the book. Enjoy, and for the record Bill Froehlic will be second based on his relationship in helping Arlie it's only fitting that he be right there with him in the book.

See how easy that is. ;-)

I'm writing my story now. Hope I don't make anyone cry. It's a story of dedication to the CS car, and a story of those who've helped me reach my dream of owning the 68 model.

Are we including screen names or real names?

As for screen or real names I would hope we include both along with some pictures of you with your car but I certainly don't want to imply that you have to do either, it's all up to you.

Thanks for all the nice comments, it doesn't take much.

A couple more screen shots.

We have Jon the webmaster's chapter complete, great to have his story as it is the bond that ties.

Ok, I woke up at 4:50 AM this morning and well...I was awake, which is typical for me, early to bed early to rise, sure wish it would make me wiser. Anyway I started working on the book and to make a long story short I decided to also do the book in the large format coffee table book so I am maintaining two books as I move along now, no big deal, it's simple to do now that I caught it up.

I pulled all of the text out of the first book and into a Word Document that will mirror the books and be available for anyone that wants it once we get this done, it doesn't have the photos just the text in it's entirety. My thinking is we may utilize less pages in the larger format and be able to have a large format book for roughly the same $$ due to less pages utilized. I will maintain both books as I move along and in the end we will see what works best.

Both books will be available for publishing either way and I don't want to make this something that people can't afford, if the larger book is way more money I will make sure that either both books are available or the lesser of the two for sure. As long as we can sell one of the large format books I could publish both and make them both available offering another option which shouldn't be a big deal, I'll buy one or more of each anyway. So far it has only reduced 2 pages from 14 down to 12 but as it goes along it may amount to more. Guess we will see.

EDIT: I just went and looked again at the prices and you don't have the option of softcover in the large format and the price is quite a bit more but I think I will still do both, I'd like to try the large format and this will be a great opportunity to give it a shot. Large Landscape format prices range from $55 to $170 dependent upon page numbers. Standard Landscape is $20 to $95 depending upon the number of pages.

I guess I'll have to go buy an RV just so people don't get confused.

Hey Trash, you are funny.

Cory, I'm super excited about this book! When is the "deadline" to submit to the cause? I'm thinking holiday gifts to annoy my entire family with!

If you're talking end of the year holidays, bank on it, 4th of July holidays I'd say more than likely not. Funny thing about this book, it is all dependent upon the members and how prepared you are when I request your information, if you have it done and send it I will have it in the book within 30 minutes or so. However, not everyone has digital photos and not everyone knows how to do digitial photos and we don't wan't to exclude anyone so we are helping set up some digital photo shoots behind the scene so they get it done.

Right now we are assembling Bill Froehlich's section and he has a couple more photos he needs to take and then I have 4 more members all ready to go and half a dozen that are close. We are at 48 members now and as long as everyone is out there preparing thier stories and getting their photo shoots done I can put it together fast.

Finished up another 6 chapters last night, still keeping both formats up, the large book and the small book. Supposed to rain all weekend here so I'll sort through what I have already and finish that up and I'll be shooting out some more emails requesting more stories and photos so have them ready if you can.

If you get a request and can not get it done within a few days or the next week please let me know and I'll move on to someone else for now and come back to you at a later time.

I'll try and get a few more screen shots posted so you can see how it's going.

Thanks for everyone's support in being prepared for your chapter when requested.

Special thanks to David Ivener

Like we didn't already know this but we sure have a great group here. I'd like to give a "Special" thanks to David Ivener. In my effort to make the book as valuable (emotionally not $$) as I could I contacted Bob Teets and requested he be a part of the book knowing it wouldn't be the same without his wonderful collection highlighted by his 428 HCS. He requested we talk on the phone so we made contact and he wasn't sure how best to get the photos that I needed as he didn't do digital photography so I sent out some feelers and got a quick response from David and from there it's actually Davids story but he made contact with Bob and did the photo shoot for me and sent me the photos.

The photos are great, all 65 of them and needless to say thanks to David taking up some of his personal time to help out Bob will have a really nice section in our book.

Thanks David.
