1968 My buck tag. What does it tell me?

    1968 Deluxe vs. Standard Interior

+1 on repairing a door with minor rust to a repro. A patch should not be hard for a good metal worker.

    1968 Deluxe vs. Standard Interior

Lower console was not part of the deluxe interior. Believe the upper was part of the option. +1 on all of Neil's points.... In addition you may need the wiring to the door lights and lights, added costs. If you go stereo, then speakers too... both require cutting doors. I added a deluxe...

    1968 Headrests

TMI makes new covers for the 68s. They are a different size than the 69s. Also, when seeing "in the box" NOS 68s, the only ones I have ever seen are the strap-on-the-back-of-the-seat bolt on dealer add-ons, not factory style with the two posts into the backrest and the very breakable slider...

1968 Restoration Plans in the Future

Know of no printed doc that has concours restoration info, in a comprehensive manner. I'm no expert, jsut a semi-informed enthusiast, but most of the books I have seen (have not seen the one you note) are more "general" guidelines, as specifics of any car are too varied for a...

    1968 Door panel clips

Ok, may be for a water seal. But still not sure why it would not be applicable to the uppers too? No telling what the engineers were thinking for some of the odd things you see on these cars...

    1968 Door panel clips

+1 on along the bottom for the foam ones. Always thought it was odd vibration was an issue on the lowers, but not the upper... basically the same connection....

1968 Opinons on an interior modification...

Yes, it was more on the "they are the same" line, to note there are a few minor differences... I don't think its a big issue, but not keen to tear apart the dash to fiddle with the parts right now as I need to order the right hand side parts. Now I am thinking a '67 deluxe may look good in the...

1968 Opinons on an interior modification...

Pretty sure it is 100% OEM stock. It is in every '67 deluxe I have (3 sets). The photo is a FoMoCo C7 part... Do a google search on "67 deluxe interior dash" or "67 deluxe instrument cluster" and its in pretty much every photo ...

    1968 Door vapor barrier

+1 on the strip caulk, a bit less messy than the caulking gun bedding and glazing goop... I've used both of these and the 3M is a bit tackier, if a bit more difficult to apply due to that stickiness (it likes to stick to your hands more than the car!) :tongue...
