    1968 rear tail light panel

I would assume the wallowing of a hole saw at 2.75 could easily rough out to the 2.900 I measured. (in multiple places) As noted, one car, one measurement. I wouldn't worry. As the pics show there is plenty of room for the caps and the locations are not really that accurate... pretend you...

1968 Cali Special Poss Engine Replacement - Questions?

I'll have to disagree on the drums. The single best thing you can do for safety is... drive slower. I've been driving a drum GT/CS regularly, I was worried when I bought it because of posts like this... But....they stop as well as my discs for average around-town driving. The pedal feel is...

    1968 Repro Marchal lights

As noted, this was not meant as criticism of the parts, tehy are very nice parts and I will be using a set on the GH/EXP500 replica.. Have only seen the entire light sold, no parts.

1968 Cali Special Poss Engine Replacement - Questions?

That's too easy, buy a dime-a-dozen '68 coupe shell, (or even a 67, the scoops hide the biggest difference and many delete the fender markers anyway) a few grand in Branda fiberglass and have at it... why restomod a-one-of-a-very few cars? As noted, would you restomod a Shelby??? (sadly, I...

    1968 Repro Marchal lights

Took a closer look at the new repros. While very nice parts, some differences to OEM (which is not surprising) Here is a link to Pete Disher's CoralSnake site with a pic of the OEM lights, I am assuming same as Shelby (kudos for Pete for his support and documentation for the hobby!)...

    1968 rear tail light panel

New version, let me know if you want a jpg to put somewhere on the site so if the linked site goes belly up its not lost... Enjoy! (and verify!, only based on one car!) Way over dimensioned, but figured I'd give as many references as possible and the font is a bit large for the dimensioned...

    1968 rear tail light panel

I'd bet they sagged when installed to the bottom of the hole, on the line they probably didn't look at perfect centering, drill the hole, apply some sealant, press in place, drive a few screws.... next... 90 seconds and on to the next. I agree the location does not look "critical".... Anyone...

    1968 Ongoing Discoveries

Was asked about the "not correct" comment. I believe some of the marking on the glass are not corect for per OEM. I don't have one handy, packed away in the garage, but in the next day or so I'll get a photos and compare to the one on the ID page here and Pete Disher's drawing from the Coral...

    1968 rear tail light panel

I can do it better, thats a hack quickie! But thanks for the compliment... if I really go for it I'll do it in 3D!

    1968 rear tail light panel

I just got in from looking at it. I did as you noted after looking at it, measured inside the trunk. Great minds think alike! (Yes, I screwed up the cut mark on the tail lamp bar... a 5 minute sketch and did not save it.... duh... but the dimensions are OK) From side to side within...

    1968 rear tail light panel

Give me the weekend, I'll take mine apart and take some photos and measurements... I can respray the bucket chrome and clean up the wiring while I'm at it...

    1968 Ongoing Discoveries

The Marchal repros are very nice, but not "correct". Great price, I paid over $100 more with NPD about 4 months or so ago... ;-(

1968 Cali Special Poss Engine Replacement - Questions?

Define "good". If maximum horsepower and go-fast is all you care about and want good handling buy a FD series RX-7. Bang for buck will leave any Mustang in the dust. or buy a dynacron shell and have at it. If keeping it a 68 GT/CS means anything then date correct is "good". To me as a...

1968 Cali Special Poss Engine Replacement - Questions?

White smoke is "generally" coolant leaking into the combustion cycle, head gasket or cracks in the system. Not definative, but the most common cause. As there were very few J codes made (only 200 w/4 speed, statistic courtesy Marti Auto Works and copyrighted), me, I'd try to find a period...

    1968 Interior done

What manufacturer (assuming TMI) and how well did it go in? Going to be converting a standard interior to deluxe soon and wondering what dramas may occur... other than dying a lot of bits for Ivy Gold '68...

1968 Cali Special Poss Engine Replacement - Questions?

First question would be what do you want it to be? A Cal Special or a restomod? Is the car origianlly a J code? Me, I'd rebuild it with stock block, internal upgrades, leave the 4 speed (assuming original). It will be more than enough for the street. I'd disagree that a replacement...

1968 New California Special T shirt Ideas

But, oh so politically incorrect... Used to live in Oakland and work in San Ramon, just up the raod from you. And my GT/CS came to Oz from Hayward, bought in Fremont! I can almost guarantee one day, years ago, I drove past it on 580....

1968 New California Special T shirt Ideas

I was thinking a 'her's" shirt with a front shot of the grille with strategiaclly placed fog lights! I'd suggest you contact Ford as they have been very agressive in folks using "their" IP. They made many shops using the term "Mustang" pay or cease and desist... The GT/CS logo I am...

    Tail light harness pictures

I believe the Tbird was a 2 wire setup, I just bought a Shelby tail panel and buckets wires and they did not have the 6 pin connector, so thinking the seller sold me Tbird as Shelby, which is OK as I knew the wiring was stuffed anyway. The Tbird 2 wire works all lights in tandem as on the...
