1968 Welcoming myself to the site

Guy! Welcome to the site. Looking at my copy of your 2002 68 390GT registry right now! I'm a "C coder" here as well. Still have the 68 S convertible in the registry #312, back then it was "going in for restoration..." now its done! Now have a 68 S GT coupe as well, 'almost" done...

    1968 Grille cutouts

When did you get the Marchal brackets from NPD? I use them for most of my parts, saying they don't carry them. Do you possibly have a part number or contact info for the manufacturer? Worst case, will the standard '68 fog brackets work with the Marchals (mounted upside down)? I want the...

1968 Is this shift handle correct for the 1968 GT/CS?

Correct for any '68 (and other) C4 or C6 Mustang with standard interior. IIRC on deluxe interior it was vinyl wrapped. Repro buttons are available, good quality and pretty cheap. The missing one just slips in the end as is held in place by a slot that goes over the shifter stem, probaly...

1968 Lucas pedestal mounting parts - available separately?

Only need the rubber washers and 2 of the flat "L" washers. Hate to buy a $100 kit for just those few odd parts. I could ask my shop to fabricate the plates, but not as easy to make the the rubber ones... ???

    1968 Painting the grille

Removed the standard 68 grille and modified the repro '67 from NPD. Found the grille on the car is a Ford 68 GT one, black-blue-black, fog brackets, and in pretty good condition. Nice score I'll clean up, repaint, and swap onto my 68 S GT that is "almost" done (for the last year or more....)...

1968 Metal flange that goes from hood lock pin to grille

Ok, wasn't sure from the description. I would assume that is standard Mustang then and not really related to the CS specifically... NPD lists part 16A1742-A, Brackets Radiator Support Bumper which the above mounts to. Again unclear to me from your description, but maybe what you are looking for??

    1968 Grille cutouts

On Lucas cars the cutouts really don't do much. Were the brackets and cutouts still used after changing to the pedestal mount Lucas lights? If so, is anyone reproducing the correct Marchal brackets? All repros I see appear to be generic '68 Fog brackets, slightly different...

    1968 Painting the grille

Seen references to: Ford 32930 DDL32930 Cast Blast Charcoal Grey Metallic (interior color AFAIK) As I had the last two on hand pulled the brackets off a 67 grille, painted with cast Blast, and then a light cost of CGM. The CGM is darker than CB. How close is the CGM (I have NPD brand and...

    1968 Detailing

+1 on the red/yellow on the fronts, just saw them on my May build C code the other day. Saw some faint marks on the driveshaft and want to jack it up this weekend and see if I can tell what they are...

Interested in parting with any of the spares? I could use two for a project... I have 4 after markets but would be interested in originals for this concept...

    1968 Rear seatbak Gap-osis

No way the padding or tightness is the issue. Vinyl will not shrink steel! The steel frame is not padded that much on the sides... as noted swapping from the 67 to 68 inner panel fixed mine without changing anything on the back... it was about 1" on each side...

    1968 Rear seatbak Gap-osis

Yep. Smaller overall too... height and width. The convertible seat base is also not as wide or deep as the coupe. No way a coupe kit will fit on a convetible or the other way around...

    1968 Rear seatbak Gap-osis

Just a note, the FAM also calls out a different seat bottom as well from 67 to 68. I posted on VMF trying to see if anyone knew the year-to-year differences, and pretty much got laughed at. Most there don't seem too interested in correct anymore, as many of the "experienced" folks moved on to...
