    351w Head Suggestion

Jamie, When I get a second, I will take a picture of the metal bars I installed to align the power steering and alternator. This is something that is commonly needed in a 351W conversion. Also be absolutely certain that the headers you get will work. I was sold and sent the wrong ones...

    351w Head Suggestion

Carb selection - have you seen this on the Holley website. Might be of interest. I switch off between an Edelbrock Performer 600CFM and a Holley 750Double Pumper. They both work fine, but when I race, I use the Holley. david

    351w Head Suggestion

Personally, I think even inexpensive aluminum heads work great. My Corvette mechanic once told me that he always buys the generic heads. (No knock on top end heads, I am sure there is a big difference in air flow, porting, etc) I just saw this in the latest Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine...

Original California Special "blueprints" on ebay

Casey, I also appreciate your acquiring this history for us GT/CS and HCS enthusiasts. Thanks very much. Not sure it has been previously mentioned, but AO Smith produced the frames and fiberglass bodies for the 60's Corvettes. According to one Corvette history book that I own, Chevrolet phased...

    351w Head Suggestion

Jamie, Putting a 351W in a 68 coupe is an engine conversion. The 68 mustang did not come with a 351W. I currently have a 393 stroker in my HCS (essentially a 351W block). Couple things you need to keep in mind. While the engine will bolt right in, the engine will sit a bit higher. Hood...

    351w Head Suggestion

Jamie, Not an expert here, and not sure this is relevant to an 84 block. Typically the 2v heads are more desirable due to smaller combustion chambers resulting in higher compression ratio. (I know the Cleveland had 2v and 4v heads, but did the Windsor have this also???) My suggestion, find...

American Muscle Car - Fastest Engines

Joe, you are probably right, the numbers are quite surprising. The show leads you to believe these are stock engines. They even mention "no ringers." The HP figures were at the flywheel with open exhaust. They used 3rd party dyno's, however, they were not the same dyno for each engine...

American Muscle Car - Fastest Engines

Over Christmas, Speed channel ran a mini American Muscle Car marathon. Just got my new DVR and recorded all of them. One show was about the real horsepower vs stated horsepower of the muscle car engines. As you know, actual HP was understated due to insurance costs. I think this was a 1 of...

    Future Values............BJ cometh

This is something I have thought about also, probably less than 20 years. (should we start a thread about "corn fed" E85 conversions??) Just bought a new car and spent way to much time thinking about gas milage. Not sure what the issue is with Mustang Coupes. I am a big Camaro lover (my very...

    rear axle ratio

I have 3.55's with a C4 auto. I don't drive it very much other than to shows and to drag race. I would not go any more than 3.25 if you will be doing much freeway driving. I agree the ideal set up would be an AOD. david

Refreshing an old thread. Frame Enhancement/Modification ?

This is an old thread, but I want to let everyone know that I just installed Global West Subframe Connectors on my HCS and they fit like a glove. I am very impressed. My only concern is that they might be too heavy duty, adding excess weight to the car. After a year and a half and two...

    $200K Cougar

The leather seats (even the passenger one) look like they have a lot of creases for a car with 650 miles. I have always liked the Cougar, had one back in 1978. David

I also used an under dash harness from a donor car. But, I have used instrument cluster and under hood harnesses from Alloy Metal Products. They claim Concours quality repoductions. Their product seem to be high quality. I purchased the under hood harness for NPD. It was packaged...
