1968 Another one back on the road!

Great story! I am hoping to have mine back on the road so I can take my kids to school in it by the end of August. Your story will help keep me focused on the prize.

    Wanted 1968 J-code GT/CS or HCS Project

I second this advice. When I bought my car last September, the seller was asking $25k. The car was complete but tired. The body was solid, but it needed some fiberglass work. I knew going in what I wanted to do to it (full restoration, very high end driver). After 2 months on Craig's List...

    1968 Seafoam Green GT/CS in Adam-12

That is cool (Seafoam Green owner here). It almost looks like a parchment vinyl top on it. Very uncommon. The only one I have ever seen like that is that one that sold for about $40k at auction 6 or 7 years ago.

    1968 Tire size?

This is what I am looking at (ignore the 30 year old drag slicks currently mounted on them).

    1968 Tire size?

So, not to hijack this threat, but I have a set of 15" Crager rims (65 Shelby style). What size would you recommend for those? I was thinking 225 60 15. I may reconsider and go with to 215 60 15 if there might be clearance problems up front. Since it will be an unusual look, I want the set...

For Sale 1968 GT/CS on CL

This car was for sale by the same seller last July. Her brother in law purchased it new in Redding. I was interested in it because I thought it might have been an original bronze car. No such luck. Originally highland green over black (I'd bet the dirty trunk is green when cleaned). It has...

1968 Time for a new stereo?

I am with Dave. I had a 66 with a Custom Auto Sound deck that looked original. It was replaced once under warranty and we were on our own after that. The replacement unit didn't hold a station for more than a couple of minutes. In addition, the IPod Jack failed and refused to work. I am...

1968 What screws to use on tail light panel?

When I say everything was all put back together, I got to here today. Definitely the point of no return on using the original screws. Fortunately, you can't see those once the panel is installed. Thanks again for finding a picture of what those screws look like.

1968 What screws to use on tail light panel?

Thanks Mike. Odd ball screws for sure. After 3 trips to Lowes/Homedepot last night I ended up using #12 3/4" sheet metal screws with a couple of washers. After getting everything back together today, I found these......

1968 What screws to use on tail light panel?

I did a search of the site and the only photo I can find of the back of the fiberglass panel with the lights mounted looks like pan head screws were used. They look like the same style as the valance. I think I have some extras from a 66 I restored a few years back. I will give those a try.

1968 What screws to use on tail light panel?

Thanks Rich. I am looking for the screws that attach the light assembly to the fiberglass panel. When I took my car apart, I removed the screws but the light assembly would not come out of the fiberglass. I took it to the paint shop with the car and they removed the light assembly without...

1968 What screws to use on tail light panel?

So overall, the re-assembly of my car is going smoothly. I was working on the fiberglass tail light panel and the tail lights today and cannot find the 8 screws that fasten the tail lights to the fiberglass panel (on the inside of the panel). Does anyone have a photo of what these screws look...

1968 MCA Show in Tucson - Anyone Going?

I am not going to be able make it this year, but next time it is in the area, I will definitely be there. I will be spending a good part of Saturday putting my GTCS back together. Russ - good luck having your car judged.

1968 The Sea Foam Special is out for paint

The lighting on that last photo was a bit off. This photo shows the true color. The guys at the paint shop gave me a hard time about the color, but I am a stickler for originality when it comes to paint. I don't anticipate seeing another one like it anytime soon.

1968 The Sea Foam Special is out for paint

Well it took a bit longer than anticipated, but my car came back from paint yesterday. I ended up having the shop do more reassembly than originally planned which is good since my free time has been limited. I am very pleased with the results and have to say the paint job exceeded my...

1968 Saw this in Napa, CA

This topic got me thinking, I met a guy at the Mustang 50th Birthday show in Las Vegas who said he was from the Napa area. I don't remember his name. Below is a link to the photo I took of his car. He said it was ordered by the Ford Northern CA district sales office for their Sales Mgr to...

For Sale 1968 GT/CS on Phoenix CL

No doubt. I live on the Phoenix area and it is a crazy time of year for those into classic cars. Five auctions going at the same time (about 3000 cars). More than 500 cars for sale at the Pavillons show. The problem for this seller is that timing is everything. The buyers, hype and...

Great story. I really like that color combo. Looking forward to see more pictures once it is back home.
