VIN 8R01C142784

Says in the ad that it has a Marti and is in the Registry but I could not locate, at least not on the online one.
Remember the online Registry is not the same as the printed Registry. The online version only includes cars that people have chosen to submit online.

It's interesting that that VIN is in the 1996 Registry, but not the 2011 Registry. Not sure if that was just an oversight or if Paul Newitt purposely took it out for some reason.

Love looking at VIN's for comparisons......

This car is 222 numbers AFTER mine and was scheduled for build on Feb 16th but instead was made 2 days earlier and got the flush reflectors.
mine was scheduled for Feb 14th but was produced 6 days later on Feb 20th and got exterior mounted reflectors.......weird.

My car feb 14th but built on Feb 20th
This car Feb 16th but built Feb 14th WTF? Was mine missing a part that it needed to wait????

It is a common misconception that the serial number represents the order the vehicles were built on the assembly line. This is not true at all. The serial number represents the sequence in which the orders were generated. At Ford, orders are received by the General Office. They are responsible for the creation of serial numbers. As orders are received from all the different DSOs and internally from Ford, the serial numbers are assigned, starting with 100001 for the first Ford product at a particular assembly plant (in various years, Mercury started with either 500001 or 600001 while Lincoln used 700001 or 800001 or 600001).

Once the General Office receives an order and assigns a serial number, the order is forwarded to the assembly plant. However, the assembly plant uses criterion to determine what sequence to produce the orders. Amongst those criterion are:

Is this a special car?
Is it a retail or stock or basic order? (Retail has highest priority)
Are the options required in stock at the assembly plant?
Is there a welding bay available for the body style?

That is a C&P Marti Auto Works FAQ

...None of mine (six at that time) are in Newitt's registry... By request!

"Officially signed by Carol Shelby, with letter of authenticity." Curious to know how much premium people are willing to pay for Carol Shelby signature. Doesn't say where he signed it. Interesting....

Carroll Shelby was a pretty prolific signer of autographs, I have three things signed.

It is all perceived value. I am sure that Carroll signed many thousands of glove boxes, pictures, posters, books, and other memorabilia.

From what I understand the money from his car parts, ect. autographs went to help fund his CS Children Foundation. I had a 68 visor he signed for me years ago. I used Windex on it before a car show and smeared his signature. I made a call he said send it back and then he signed both sides. Years later I sent in the visor of my 65 fastback for a signature he sighed both sides of it as well. I figured he thought there's that Scott boy again. lol. It's still hanging in my car.

Well, it's lot #208, so my plan is to see what number they are at when they start broadcasting the auction. Hopefully I can be watching when it shows up.

Web site says sold for $30,800. I guess you have to add a 10% buyers premium on top of the hammer price. Nice!!!
