Nice looking GTCS. Maybe the girl will help sell it. She looks younger than my daughter.

Pros- Nice car with Marti report - an original Candy Apple Red. Convenience light group on console (I dont see this often). Factory AC/PS/PB and argent wheels.

Cons - They got the 'California Special' backwards on the passenger side (so what happened to that side of the car to cause this mistake ) . Tail lights have black edging. Side stripe goes under the scoop. Posts are shelby style. It shows as a 289, but is described as a 302.

1. Anyone know what a deluxe steering wheel is? (I'm too lazy to go look it up)

2. Also, I have seen SO many GTCS's with shelby pedestals lately - Do we consider this period correct? I was under the impression that this could have been done incorrectly by a dealer in 68, but not likely?

3. What is the white plastic container with the red cap on the passenger side engine compartment?

I have attached a photo of the deluxe steering wheel in my GT Coupe. Also, the bottle with the red cap is an overflow bottle for the radiator. Looks a little tacky to me. As for the Shelby pedestals, a lot of the Ford dealers used those in place of the correct pedestals from what I've heard.

Deluxe steering wheel should have simulated wood grain rim and center.

The white plastic container is a coolant catch can (or overflow). I think they're $9.99 at Pep Boys.:smile:

On a side note I saw this on ebay. I haven't seen the two-tone version before. Maybe it's off a Torino, but I doubt it's off any Mustang.

Just to add my 2 cents.

I agree the girl makes the seller look like a child pornographer. I sure hope she's a lot older than she looks.

The passenger stripe doesn't even begin to approach anything that resembles a straight line.

The rear deck stripe is too high

I think the deluxe wheel just means that it has a woodgrain rim, while the woodgrain center was reserved for the deluxe interiors.

Nice looking underside.

This one gives me bad vibes and if I was interested in the car I'd certainly check it, and the seller, out carefully.

Haha this car kinda sounds like mine did...i had the "deluxe" steering wheel which was a piece of crap by the way, i had factory AC/PS/PB and my passenger side scripts are oriented wrong...and i have the shelby pedestals.

What is the convenience light? is that the really long thing on the underside of the roof that i've seen with the cars that have consoles? i just have a dome light on my car so i dont know.

The convenience light option was a set of lights on the lower console on either side of the compartment door that moves up and down. The lights were for things like seat belts, door ajar, ...I can't remember them all right now. They are shown in a standard 68 mustang options brochure. Casey

This is a very nice, well optioned car. It has a few flaws, but nothing major. This would be a good car to buy.

I bet there are less than 25 CS's with the convenience control group, very rare option in 68 Mustangs let alone CS's.

Jason, I agree with you that this one would be a good catch. The only thing that would bother me is how the CS script got backwards. Otherwise everything else is easily dealt with, and a nice car. This one came with Argent wheels from the factory too (and not a GT). Casey

Like Arlie says - I'd definitely check out this seller. If they do a lot of business on ebay their feedback score isn't the greatest. There are those who consider 97% pretty good. Myself I don't. Of course that's just me.

this seller only has 115 points on Ebay so every negative shows up as a full point off his percentage. He has not had a negative in over a year. I say his feedback is not really that bad. The little bit that I talked by email to the seller I got the impression he is a alright guy.

I'm glad you guys like the car. My CS is just like it except it also has overhead console, deluxe interior, head rests, tilt away steering, a vinyl top, and I don't have the convienence group. Everything else is exactly the same (color combo/options/engine/etc...). I need to get that thing restored.

My passenger side script is mounted incorrectly as well.
Still not sure why ... it was done prior to the owner before me.
Everything in the rear is original so it wasn't rear-ended.
That fender might have been replaced or when it was repainted they fixed some problem and made the new holes to match the driver's side and did it wrong. Someday I'll fix it but ... aside from everyone on this site ... no one notices.

A: The model is a local University student, if you are a talent scout please stay in touch! As for the car, YES...DUAL fuel Lines, with multi leafs in the back. I think they are 68 seats....it was a 4 speed, the small auto pedal is still there. I have all parts to convert for sale separately.
