I think that a good way to "end" this thread is to think of the two versions like this:
--The '68 Version is the classic, that you'd have to have it to do the late model version. No original, no late model version....
however...
--Without the late model version, there would be no recogniton, and/or remembering of the '68 version (that is, to the casual observer). I'm sure that there are lots of folks that have asked an '07 owner: "so, what IS a GT/CS?", which the owner (hopefully) explains that it's a new version of the one they made in '68. In which the person asking gets a whole new education on BOTH GT/CSs.
...but wait, there's more....
The bottom line is that Ford wouldn't have made this Mustang variant if it weren't for YOU, the original GT/CS owners... Ford Marketing looked at the existing classic Mustang "marques", and their following, and actually saw us, and said something like: "hey, these '68 GT/CS folks seem pretty enthusiatic, so...let's do a variant on that marque...
So, everybody happy now?
One hand washes the other.
