What is with the bolt area of this fender?

Looks like some kind of protective cover. It extends over the radiator support too. I've seen chrome ones before but that's really odd. The material certainly isn't attractive under the hood IMHO.

Arlie, I think it's kind of like when a lady has to have a belt, purse and shoes to contrast with her outfit.
The women on this site no doubt 'get it'. :grin:
Personally my favorite color is chrome and I would like to have some chrome stilettos. Maybe not, that would make me about 6'4".
