Don't know if I missed this or not, but it is my understanding that two GT/CS (a 289 and a 390) will be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson this time. Anyone picked up on this, seen the cars, got an estimate on how the cars will do???

Looks like the Seafoam car is a 302 not a 390. Sure seems like Seafoam Green is the popular color for Barretts Even the blue 289 car was originally Seafoam Green and if I remember correct the first CS on Barretts was also Seafoam Green.

Guys

I think the 390 is lot number 368. It is a blue automatic car.

So that would make 3 cars at Barrett-Jackson??

Summary
California Special Mustang GT/CS. 390cid "X" Code with an automatic. Engine and transmission rebuilt. 1 of 1 car with bench seat.

Description
California Special, numbers matching 390cid "X" Code with automatic. Only 76 "X" Codes were produced with hardly any left. This vehicle is a properly documented 1 of 1 car with Marti Report. Engine and transmission are both matching with correct VIN stampings on each. Both were rebuilt approximately 1 year ago. Engine has been modified slightly with correct dated components including Cobra Jet heads and 4-barrel carb. Engine bay is completely restored to correct era components. Setting this car apart from others is its bench seat option, which is rarely seen on any Mustang. Car retains all original body panels. Car has had one repaint approximately 10 years ago. Paint is driver quality. New tires. Air conditioning not hooked up but I do have all components. Interior is extra nice being entirely redone in correct two tone blue. Car is very clean. Underside very clean. No rust through floor boards. This is a solid, un-restored rare GT/CS 1 of 1 vehicle with proper documentation.

Sorry folks. No sale for me on either car pictured above. Mine is more "correct" and crisp than either one of them. Guess I'll just have to tough it out!!

Unfortunately typical of auction cars.

Love the painted fender bolts, riveted radiator seal......

If I recall correctly, the riveted rubber radiator seal was only on 6 cyl cars.

Neil,

I think Jeff is being ficicious. The radiator seals were "stapled" (and were also used on other engine sizes).

Yeah, I tried to edit the "riveted", cause I only saw them stapled. But I never saw them on cars other than 6 cyl.

the maroon 289 CS I owned that I bought from Scott had the radiator seal and was a fairly original car (48k miles, original exhaust etc). It was stapled to the radiator support.
