Guys and Gals, that is my GT/CS on Ebay. I did buy it from a lady in Golden, Co, but had no idea that denver DSO's were all HCS's. If I had known that, I might not have started on the convert project and returned it to HCS trim.
Should have spent more time on this site, I guess.

Yeah, I hear your typing speed is one of the first things to go as you get older.

Tim, your Kansas DSO won't be a HCS because it's not a 51 DSO. There were HCS cars sold by dealers in states outside of CO, including Wyoming, Nebraska, S. Dakota. But these were still DSO 51. They just went to non-CO dealers.

I'm sure Bob will jump in soon and confirm (or I'll be eating a lot of crow!) :icon_pani

SO true on the states. Bob here

Interesting.
If they rolled down the assembly line designated as a CS, would it then be incumbent on the assembly line worker to put the correct (HCS) emblem on the side scoop?
How would he know?
Are the 251 HCS units part of the 4118 figure?

Neil
Yes, the 251 are in the 4118. No, the HCS decals were made by and bought from DECALS, INC. here in Denveer and applied by the receiving dealer. Bob here.

The HCS emblems were shipped in the trunk and dealer installed.

The 251 is part of the 4118.

Scott

No, the decals were not shipped in the trunk. I quote a Ford letter in my hand dated June 27 1968 TO DEALERS that states the following," YOU WILL NOTE THAT THE G.T.STRIPE DOES NOT EXTEND OVER THE AIR SCOOP ON THE UNITS AS THEY ARE RECEIVED FROM THE ASSEMBLY PLANT. THE STRIPES FOR THE SCOOPS ARE BEING MADE LOCALLY AND TO BE DEALER INSTALLED. THESE WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO ALL DEALERS AS SOON AS THEY ARE AVAILABLE AND SHOULD BE INSTALLED ON ALL UNITS AT THAT TIME'. end of quote. This should clear up this any misunderstanding. The plant DID NOT have the scoop decal. The dealers mounted them.

Thanks Bob,
For being the keeper of the facts. There are so few of these cars they many could have been lost as this one if not for your efforts. Marty

A great education for me.
I wonder what tipped off the assembly line workers to not install the GT/CS decal on the scoop when the car was coming down the assembly line designated as the CS package, or did the dealer have to remove it to install the HCS decal.

My total WAG is that since our cars were built in batches the 'special' work was probably done near the end of the line and those handful of workers may have been told to pay close attention to the build sheets to see if the car was a HCS or GT/CS.

I have the build sheet for my HCS. If someone has a build sheet for a GT/CS we could probably figure out what designated one vs the other.
