Nice pics Amy! How's the water in the Skykomish? I floated that river once, but wasn't terribly impressed.

Tim, what's a 'money shot'? I tried to get the Space Needle in the photo, it's on the left, but the stupid tourist would NOT get out of the way! Do you guys like this photo for the calendar?

I had couple pics to post and I remembered this thread. It's good to know what's going on out there with our CS friends.

Skykomish? I do not know. I know the Stilly and Snoqualmie. As a kid I innertubed (intertube?) (oh damn! what word am I looking for!) (rafted on the REI raft too) the south fork of the Stillaguamish.

Amy, for example - of all the hundreds of photos we fill our camera chip with at an event (air races etc...), only a handful are unique and special enough to get published. We call those "money shots". Space Needle or not, I think this photo would be excellent for the calendar! :)

Amy, yes it gets my calender vote. After looking at it again satan looks like it is poised on a aircraft carrier ready for launch. I can almost hear the Top Gun them playing. May be Jon can add a sound track with next years calender? Marty

Those are both beautiful pictures, the dog almost blends in and disappears. The picture of Satan is scarry to me, the thought of unloading a CS in a city with that many buildings... Man I must be to much of a country boy.

...Marty, you of all people should know that Mustangs are land-based. It was the Falcon that flew from carriers!

...So my nephew got married this past weekend. I got a phone call about a week before... "Hey Tim" they said, "Can you put up a few of my fiance's family members at the big house for a few days?"
..."Sure Mike! I have a couple of rooms"!

Well, little did I know... From Friday through Sunday, we would host twenty-nine of them covering every square-foot with admiring anticipation, joyous celebration and adoring love! ....Reminded me of a certain GT/CS party we had about a year ago when Cory and the gang came town :) and the Mustangs were as big a hit to them as Cory's book was to us! 'So goes our California Special Way of Life!

Life's little changes

Well I had some excitement this past weekend myself. I was standing in my shorts in the kitchen Sunday afternoon ready for a shower after having been camping all weekend and in the back door comes two little girls that I recognized from pictures, it was my granddaughters that I had never been around. Maizee the youngest looks up at me and says, did you see the big slide in the back yard? I said I sure did, do you want to go play on it? Right behind them was my daughter. My daughter and I haven't spoken for over 6 years, she married into an abusive relationship and when I contacted the domestic violence center for help and then took their advice and got her aside and talked with her she...or he made sure I was no longer a part of her life. She finally saw the light and left him and filed for divorce thank God!

We spent the evening including dinner catching up and we still have a lot of catching up to do. She assures me it's over and she spent most of the time appologizing and crying but it sure was good to have her back in my arms, it's been a long time and I now have two more grandkids to spoil. How fun is that? Sure was a shock to see her standing at my back door after all this time, I didn't know what to say and that's exactly what I said to her.

Maizee on the left, Demri my daughter and Trinity on the right.

Cory, hopefully she's not in hiding from the husband, right? Good for her for being a DV survivor; it's not easy to get away & stay away from an abusive relationship.

Not in hiding, he has supervised visitation of the kids, it was his sister that called in the last DV issue and that seemed to be the back breaker. They have been apart for 3-4 months which isn't long but at the same time it is. The first thing she and I talked about was the fact that I could not stand to lose her a second time and starting our relationship over had to mean she was done for good because going back would mean I'd lose her again, she assured me she was done! Let's hope and pray.

Cory, I'm so happy for you! Tell them Hi from all of us!

Thanks, it's funny how you all of the sudden end up in one of those odd things you watch on Oprah, Hi, I'm Cory and my daughter and I have been estranged now for umpteen years blah blah. You never think it could happen to you and then all of the sudden it does. My daughter and I were really close and then bam she was gone? It's great to have her back, she's a different little girl than when I lost her 6 years ago, she's been through a lot but she's still my little girl.

Cory,

I am so happy for all of you!! I know firsthand what it is like to be in an abusive relationship!! I spent over 10 years trying to get out of a really bad one myself, and when I finally did it was very hard to stay out! He was always trying to get me back and he knew all the right buttons to push. Please be there for her and the kids and reasure her that she does not desearve anything she was going through. Life is so much better than that!! She needs to stick to it and will need lots of support and love. I know you have enough of that and more in your heart!!

Also, you don't look old enough to have grandkids!!

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments, words of encouragement and general support. It's really hard to explain how nice it is to know I now have the privledge of dialling up or going over and visiting my daughter and her two beautiful kids, something I haven't had for over 6 years, it's like the the big wall getting knocked down.

And yes I am old enough to have grandkids, 3 now to be exact.

I don't know how to describe my feelings toward my daughters two girls, there was no feelings one day, didn't even know them and the very next day they seem more important to me than my sons daughter whom I've had all kinds of time with throughout her life. It's really odd but I think it's because I know she (my sons) is well taken care of and has all the support she needs and these two, whom I haven't been around need it more than ever. Don't get me wrong, I love em all but it's just wierd that within one day they can mean that much to me?
