Squeak and I went out hunting again this morning and as usual a whole lot of shooting but no game in the truck just a whole lot of digital shots. Maybe if I left the camera home I'd actually look for deer & elk instead getting so wrapped in the beauty of my back yard.

Cory
Whoa Cory, that first photo is beautiful. You take great pics!

My Dad taught me to shoot guns,Mom enrolled me in the NRA and I'm still pretty good at shooting but I'd much rather shoot animals with a camera.

Pheasants in Alberta ...

Laurie and I just got back from hunting pheasants with "Jake the Wonder Dog" out in southern Alberta for a week. Good weather, shot a fair number of cock pheasants, but also smacked a deer with our camper van and took out the driver's side of the grill!
I bought Laurie a brand new Browning Silver Micro 20 gauge semi-auto for this season, and it seems to agree with her since she shot much better with it than she did last year using my 20 gauge Browning Citori over and under.
:icon_lol:
(PS: I shot a few too!)
Here are a few shots from this year's trip ...

A few more photos ...

... they are beautiful birds ... and tasty too!
... and smart! Nothing like hunting wild (and wily) field birds ...
We both worked very hard and put on a lot of miles to find these guys, and without the dog it never would have happened.

...Although I have nothing against hunting, I too can't bring myself to shoot animals (other than a menacing neighborhood dog with a BB gun). I realized this at age 14 after plucking a bird from a tree and watching her spiral into a pond. I couldn't help but think about a possible nest of babes she may have left behind.

I do love to shoot and could certainly hunt if I had to, but as long as there's a little cash and a market nearby - we'll do just fine.

My oldest son Thomas has become quite the deer hunter and is very good at it, but it all seems as a lot of time, work and effort when I can jump in a GT/CS and make a better day out of buying our "prey". Silly, I know... I do love fishing tho :)

50?? You're still a baby. Here are a few photos of my 70th birthday party last week, here at our airport. Everyone teases me because I like Spam & eggs (I fix it whenever Peggy is gone away!).

Neil,
Is the last photo you and your lovely wife? Is she blind or extremely nearsighted? She certainly is very pretty!

Ah, I forgot, it’s your gorgeous smile and magnetic personality!!

Peggy's beauty is indeed within as well as without. After my wife of 31 years, Bonnie passed away in 1993, the good Lord saw fit to find this lovely lady to put up with me. Don't know what I would have become without TWO exceptional gals in my life. :)

We should all be so lucky tp find one great partner let alone two. I just have to assume that she's just as lucky to find a person like you.

I have met Neil. She is the lucky one, or they both are. I wish Neil would adopt me. He reminds me of my Dad in many ways. I lost him a couple years ago at 89. He was a hot rodder at heart that supported 4 children rather to be able to follow his dream of hot cars.

Neil, you deserve the love of both these women!! Take care big guy!

Bat'Stang list of "mods": 1) batwings, 2) bat symbol in grill, 3) bat symbol wheel spinners, and 4) strobe light on dash ...

Fall in the Northwest today. No sideways rain!! Got to take the GNS to work today!! Nothing like the sound of a blower to get you ready for work. Pic in the driveway when I got home!

That thing looks nice, Robert.

I sometimes envy you NW guys your low-contrast lighting and turning leaves, too. Then I remember I can get similar effects by parking under the Tijuana Trolley tracks in Mission Valley and by driving half an hour or so toward Julian.

They're predicting chance of T-storms 40% chance of precipitation here for Saturday. Uh huh, sure; they've done that just to keep us interested. Seldom happens.

New Year's Day Trap Shooting ...

Our store (Island Outfitters Ltd. in Victoria) hosts a staff and invited family and friends Trap Shooting event each New Years day, so Laurie and I spent today (in the pouring rain no less) shooting Trap shotgun and then sharing a potluck lunch. The highlight of the day was having about 10 youngsters from about 12 to 15 years old that were shooting a shotgun at clay targets for the very first time. They had a blast! (... and so did we)
(PS: If you look closely in one of the photos of Laurie shooting, she has just broken the clay target, and the just fired 20 gauge yellow hull is in mid-air in the right side of the picture ...)

Fishing out of Jervis Bay on Australia's South Eastern Coast over the holidays. Didn't set any records but kept the family well fed on snapper, king fish, flathead and squid!

6m steel cat with twin 150hp outboards for transport... if there was such a thing as a pony boat this would be it!
