    1968 A/C vent

On the '67 vs '68 vents its more about availablity. The OEM '68 style are prone to breakage and while you can find the RH vent the LH controller in unbroken condition is somewhat hard to find. (I found a full set after looking for a long time, and then the lower part of the LH was broken in...

    1968 Lucas light question

This is a detail of what's on mine... I do not know if they are original or not. Don't have a shot of the grommet and don't remember if its grey or black, but they lens can be replaced independently so the two parts need to be assessed individually...

    1968 Lucas light question

I trust Pete Disher, and one would assume the Shelby and Cal Special would have used the same light when the Marchal's were banned. http://www.thecoralsnake.com/FogLight

1968 Wheel (Rim & Tire) Insights and Advice

Not if you do all 4 the same size, the front and rear lift/drop the same amount. As some tweak springs/leafs to suit stance to the tire, sometimes the look changes quite a bit if you go back.... 205/70/R14's and new front springs a bit shorter/stiffer than stock

    1968 Opinion PB Poster

It is highly unlikely to be original as a manual and power are different units. Unless someone cobbled up a rod to match to a power MC, I guess it "could" be done, never looked into it. I'm not familiar with the marking unique to a OEM, and have never seen a date code on one. But maybe others...

Not really complicated. A mid level DIY project. I'd rate it a 5 out of 10. Getting the pedal assembly connected is "difficult" just because there is poor access for the old and unbendable. IMO the biggest PITA is bleeding the system. Other than that is only a few nuts and bolts...

1968 What paint for the Lucas tube stands?

Yep, that is way wrong... hope the trim is not too damaged... very soft metal.... Interesting your trims are not painted, never seen that before. Are they anodized or did someone chrome them?

No expert but I have long thought the Midland was '68 and the Bendix not used until '69. ('68 shop manual only notes Midland, not that that is categorical proof) ??? For install make sure you have the master cylinder on the booster, far easier than doing them separately. Angle the assembly...

    1968 Hood twist lock adhesive?

Great!!! Glad it appears to work so well. On the pins I am getting ready to install soon too For install I was planning on attaching the brackets a bit high and loose, close the lid, lock the pins in, and use them to push the brackets down to the required height. Is this the preferred...

You need to be sure you have the correct master cylinder and push rod. The manual and power are slightly different and I do not believe they swap out... The tolerances are close, but if you have a small block its pretty easy, a big block is very tight . Removing the shock tower brace or...

1968 What paint for the Lucas tube stands?

There is a rubber/plastic "washer" they sit on. Shown on its own and on the setup here; http://www.cobranda.com/caspgtlulipe.html The install is a bit tricky as one of the "L" shaped square washers sits abover the stone tray and below the grille trim, and one site below the stone tray. Keeps...

    1968 this makes me cry

And on the upside, you could have started with something like this! So its not that bad... 10 years later, and still not quite done (but close!) So its all not as bad as it could be! Besides if they all came nice and shiny and perfect we'd miss out on all the "fun" of restoring...

    1968 this makes me cry

The tail panel is just a standard '68. You cut the larger round holes and one bar for the covers. From the view looks like replacing the entire panel will be the best go as sectioning and only replacing part is possible but probably as much work. The Branda covers are fiberglass, as yours...

    1968 Hood lock retainer screws

Went back and revisited this as I'm getting ready to put them on... the screws used on the hood retainers are very similar to the splash shiled, but different (at least per Ford docs). The aprons use a Type "A" coarse thread #14-10, 5/8" long. The retainers a Type "AB" (fine thread) #14-14...

    1968 390S Code w/4-speed..how many made??

There were 336 S code convertibles with the C6. 1343 hardtops. And 3708 fastbacks. Numbers courtesy Kevin Marti and Marti By The Numbers. But I do not know how many were GT's. I have only the stats noted as I bought a statistical report as I own a 68 S code GT coupe...

    1968 390S Code w/4-speed..how many made??

    Just a semi-related factoid... for '68 there were 1194 4 speed S code coupes. 863 were GT's (72%). 111 GTCS, thats about 10% of the total...
