    1968 reasons why you own a 1968 GT/CS

    1. Needed a mule for an EXP500 2. Found it locally at an OK price ... but then didn't have the heart to restomod a GTCS and toss the entire OEM drivetrain to go from a 289 to an FE. And... 3. I can't afford a Shelby. (yet!)

    1968 Power steering fluid

From the Motorcraft site: •Not for use in applications where MERCON® SP, MERCON® LV, Continuously Variable Chain Type Transmission Fluid, Motorcraft® Premium Automatic Transmission Fluid, FNR5 Automatic Transmission Fluid or Type F Automatic Transmission Fluid is recommended

    1968 Power steering fluid

Originally used Type F transmission fluid. They are different and as it generally available while the Mercon will "work" IMO best to stick with the Type F. If you swap be sure the system is completely emptied as to not mix them.

    1968 Vinyl roof

Anyone got close up shots of how it was trimmed out at the lower end of the A pillars and at the lower rear edge by the trims. Mostly interested in the rear trim, there is a gap between the front edge of the lower horizontal trim and the drip rail and it seems part of the edge is just left...

    1968 Hood Questions

Have reference to a 5/16" washer, no finish noted. Part 44724, standard flat washer, steel, 5/16, .365/.385 ID, .750 OD, .051/.080" thk. Would not expect zinc dichromate for a non-electrical part, generally ZD is used there. Phosphate and Oil would be my guess.

1968 So this guy stopped and offered to buy

Well, you probably won't find another for a similar price. So if you want one, keep it. If its a passing thing, then the $ may be used elsewhere... and save the cost/headaches/enjoyment/achievement of restoring it...

    1968 Removing silicone sealant

Wire wheel on a dremel after hours of getting very little done... an hour of that and its still not there, but closer. Some scuffing but as its inside the channel and hidden not to fussed as the alternative was days of scraping. Acetone, turpentine, gas, WD40, kerosene... noting bothers the...

    1968 Removing silicone sealant

Pressure washer and its gone. As for the painters truck, thats what insurance is for! It will get done, just tedious... and always amazes my how many people put so little thought into some projects.

    1968 Removing silicone sealant

And the funny part is a tube of the correct stuff would have cost the same price... gotta love the "it'll work" types!

    1968 Removing silicone sealant

PO's, the gift that keeps on giving. Hours of free entertainment fixing their efforts.... Tons of silicone sealant in the stainless door/roof rails. The channels that accept the tab on each side of the weatherstrip, which almost hold it with no adhesive, are full of clear silicone. Gobs of...

    1968 Repaint under way...

Supposedly Wimbledon White. As with most colors no real way to tell without OEM paint to match do (this was previously repainted so none to match). Each paint vendors opinion of any 60's Ford color is slightly different based on side-by-side tests I have done. It was color matched for a high...
