. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

That information actually came from Paul; I just happened to remember it. http://www.californiaspecial.com/forums/showpost.php?p=62595&postcount=1 It's strange that he didn't mention this in his book, especially since we found a couple examples.

My totally uneducated WAG is that you're still paying the taxes, but you may need to contact the folks putting on the raffle and ask them.

    1968 Smog Tubes

The below is from Marti's site. Order Type Ford Motor Company builds vehicles for different purposes and different customers. In fact, there are over twenty different classifications of order types. Some of the more common are: Retail – an individual comes to a dealership and orders an as yet...

. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

In my opinion the book does not clearly prove that fact. It could be a debut car but the circular logic used in the book just doesn't do it for me. I'd like to see the VINs listed of all the debut cars. If the author is so certain of the one he should be able to get the VINs of the others.

. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

The Marti data on page 81 shows the number of cars sent to each DSO and DSO 53 shows 87 cars. Rob you may find the following of some interest. The first book shows the earliest date at December 21st, 1967 but the new book shows the earliest date as January 18th, 1968, and as stated before the...

. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

Add Page 83. DSO 53 not listed in the chart and DSO 65 is not shown on the map. DSOs 71 and 72 show the earliest date as Jan 18th but the registry shows the build date of the premier car as January 31st. Does "earliest date" on the chart mean the same thing as production date on the data...

    1968 Smog Tubes

Took another look at the car. As usual there's good and there's bad. The good is that it drives well, and I think the 80,000+ miles on the odometer are actual miles. The bad is that it was definitely hit hard in the rear. Both rear frame rails are wrinkled, the steel taillight panel was...

. Your thoughts on the new California Special book/registry

Sorry I misunderstood the title of the thread. I thought all comments regarding the book were welcome. So you're saying the thread title should have been titled, "Only Your Positive Comments about the New California Special Book/Registry." Rob wants to know how it's been proven that the car...

    1968 Smog Tubes

Not sure if it won't shift into reverse or if I need to be extra careful shifting into 2nd. Edit I found out the answer. With that floppy Ford shifter one needs to be very careful downshifting into 2nd!!!!!

    1968 Smog Tubes

Yes, I saw the Marti but don't have a copy of it yet. The Marti shows that the car came with headrests but those are gone. Forgot to mention that the engine is original, and it has a carb with a huge choke on it that I think is original, too.

    1968 Smog Tubes

From the quick glance I could take the underside looks great but I'll get the car up in the air tomorrow to make sure. I'm a little concerned about how the taillight panel is attached. That and the dent in the quarter makes me think it was hit in the rear. Too bad the paint looks so nice...

    1968 Smog Tubes

Here are photos of the car with the smog tubes that I'm going to inspect Saturday morning. I took these a few days ago but didn't have time to really dig into the car. Tomorrow will be a thorough inspection and drive. Many of you will see some huge red flags, like the taillight panel screws...
