Would the voltage regulator also cause the gauges to slowly go from reading correctly to reading about 1/4 of what they should? I can be driving along with all the gauges working great then over maybe 5 minutes the gas, water temp, and oil pressure gauges will all swing down to almost off...

Rob, you are 100% correct on all counts. The rear seems to operate perfectly fine under normal driving conditions and makes no funky noises. It's only when I turned off the engine and let the wheels spin freely that I heard the sound. It is the standard 2.79 open 8". Thanks for the input!

Paul, how about adding a section about reducing the load on the headlight switch by installing relays for the activation of the taillights and headlights.
