Well, I saw it listed (on a Monday) and I wasn't able to get out to see it until the weekend due to work and other obligations, and it sold ... as Charlie Brown would say,"RATS!!"...

I also talked to the owner saying I was planning on seeing it on Saturday, but I guess the early bird got the worm, and it's now going off to New Jersey ... :(

Wow, that looks like it was a real bargain. No wonder it went so fast.

was it a true CS?

I spoke to the owner and he said that years ago that he and his father went to the trouble of acquiring documentation to show that it was a true CS ... though he didn't say Marti Report, it sounded like it might've been legit...

Re:Another one gets away ... BUT! I'll care for it.

Yep. Sorry all. It'll be at my house in NJ next week. I've been looking for one for a while. I called this guy and made travel plans to fly to LAX that day. The Marti will be at the house when I get there today. It looked legit w/original hood pin mounts under the hood, San Jose build, fiberglass texture looked right under the deck lid. It needs fog lights and the passenger side scoop replaced. Tailights have small cracks as well. Great clean CA car either way. This one won't go to waste! It'll be Acupulco Blue with the stripe kit once again! I'll post picks with the progress. I'll look to all of you for help with the restoration and information to do it right. It's my first GT/CS. Please feel free to comment or contact me in the future. Thanks to all that have helped me here already!

Welcome to the CS owners society NJMOP. I have found this website and those herein to be valuable sources of information and most welling to share their knowledge. Please keep us advised of your progress as you begin the tedious process of restoring your car. I am a few steps ahead of you in my restoration, and I will help you as much as I can. Someone on the site usually has the answers or resource link to answer any questions that may come up. Good Luck and Best Wishes!

Steve :)

Well, I didn't verify it was a CS. I did tons of research, asked tons of questions and then gambled. I got the Marti today. Yep, it's real!!!!! It was born on leap year!!! Feb. 29. I post some picks soon (after delivery). I hope the car makes it in one piece!

Congrats and welcome!

Where about in NJ are you?
I'm in NY not far from the Bear Mountain area, east of the Hudson.

I live in Monmouth County (Central Coast of NJ). If anyone has a line on a good Mustang parts supplier, let me know. I need passenger side scoop and lots of misc. stuff.

For Cal Spec specific parts - Tony Branda or eBay. For all other parts common to all 68's, just about any mustang dealer. Larry's Mustang, John's Mustang, Mustangs Unlimited, NPD, CJ Pony. And several more. They have all been good to me. Branda is on the expensive side, but carrys the parts no one else does. Casey

There are also Laurel Mountain Mustang and Delta Bay mustang. Delta bay makes a nice set of Marchal foglight brackets. Another supplier we keep talking about but no one seems to have used yet is Rebel Mustang. They make, what appears to be, very high quality fiberglass parts.

Acupulco Blue question for all members...I have black interior and no stripes. I want to go from the "electirc" blue color of the car back to Acupulco Blue. What is the rule of thumb for the stripe kit? Is there a way to tell what the original stripes were? My Marti is not that detailed and I am curious. I am going to take my time but is there more to it than personal preference? Also, I've noticed some great hood stripes on some CS's. Is that a stock look or more of a custom feel? These stripes are not on the full length on the car, but just a small part of the hood.

White stripes with Acapulco Blue look the best to me, and I think you could get the white stripes on the hood as an option so I think they can be factory.

If the car has the original doors, look on the inside of the door edges where the original stripes would have wrapped around. Mine were still there.
My car is Alcapulco blue with the standard black interior and had white stripes. I agree with Hook. The white stripes look best with Alcapulco blue.
My original scoops were not with the car. Maybe the back side of the original scoops or inside near the screens would have stripe remnants? Guys/Gals??
I had thought that only the flat black was available as hood stripes for the GT/CS from the blinker hood vents extending aft from the factory.

Ahhhhh, Monmouth County, on the shore.....I was just there in June.( Notice that I correctly said 'shore' not beach) ;D I bought a car in NY and flew there to drive it to California.I am right near Riverside now, wish I could have looked at your CS for ya. Are you having it shipped or driving it?

Welcome to the GT/CS world. It's a gas!
