I just got notification that I passed my last exam so I'm officially a registered architect now!

It's been a long process, so I'm extremely relieved it's over. After graduating college you're required to work under a registered architect for 4 years minimum before you can even start taking the exams. There are 9 exams total and typically it takes 2 years or more to get through them all. I had a couple of kids in there, so I took a little longer then 2 years. I only had 2 tests left (Structures and Lateral Forces) so I finally sucked it up and hit the books trying to get them both done before the end of the year.

Well this weekend I got my PASS letter on the last one. It was a great excuse to have a few extra beers for New Years!!!

Congrats from me too Jon. My daughter has a friend in Kansas City that is sitting for sections of those exams too. She's also working hard and she tells me that those are very difficult exams to pass. Best of luck in your future professional endeavors!!!

Congrats from me too!

I passed my PE test back in summer 1978. To this day I still remember the stress of taking the test and then waiting (seemingly forever) for the official word. It's a great achievement and a very important milestone in your career as it was in my career.

Congrats, Jon!

I bet you have that "Architectural Standards" book all memorized by now?

So--let's see you do a LEED-inspired home with the "Ultimate GT/CS Garage" attached?

We need more architects that look forward from stick framing, and into SIPS, and green technology. Did you have any inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright? Have you been to Talesian West there in AZ?

The future is yours now....a very admirable accomplishment.

Thanks for all the congrats.

I've been in this field for 11+ years, so it's not a change in direction for me. It's more of a title change and acknowledgment in the profession. The one thing it does open up is the option to go out and start my own firm, but that's pretty far in the future if ever.
