Your GT/CS: Primary Driver? Show Car?

I was wondering how owners use their GT/CS.

1. Daily Driver and/or Primary transportation?

2. "Once-in-a-while take it out for a drive"

3. Show Car - (any class).

4. "other", i.e. drag car, vintage racer, street machine, etc...

Please give your total mileage on your GT/CS (if not known, a best estimate).

Thanks,

Paul N.

Paul;
I use mine both as a show car and street machine. I put 4,500 miles on my new motor last summer. I drive my car to work and even in the winter as long as the roads are dry and no heavy salt residue is out. She currently has 65,840 miles on the odometer. I'd have it out today except for all the snow we've had over the past week. Have cleaned the driveway but, there is still a good 2" of ice on the blacktop area. It's suppose to be in the upper 50's by the end of next week. Can't wait.

My car is a daily driver when the roads are good, for trips to the lake with the kids, grocery store and cruising. The odometer has been stuck on around 80,000 since I bought it. The 289 4V was a freshly rebuilt engine when I bought it in March 2004. I can only assume I`ve put about 25,000 miles on it? Maybe more, maybe less.
Total miles on the car is unknown. If I assume that it had around 80,000 miles on it when I bought it and add the 25,000, then collectively 105,000 miles for a very rough estimate.

My GT/CS was my primary driver from 1981-1986. It sat for a few years with no work being done to it. About 1990 I started restoring it and the first show I took it to was Knotts last year. It has been driven less than 1000 miles since 1986. 300 of those were put on by my son the day of his Senior Prom.( the one and only time he has driven it)

In Sept. it was in a garage fire and I just got it back. Hoping to drive her more and go to more shows soon.

The odometer reads 58600 or so.

Mine is a "2" with an occasional "3" when I feel like it. It has about 51,000 miles on it.

Odometer reads 67,000. With the paper work I received with the car I am sure its 167,000. Driver/weekend show car would be what I would say. With Spring drawing near I plan to drive it every chance I get, several local car shows and a trip planned for North Dakota in July. Can't wait!

Mine is #3, but not concourse, and it is driven to local shows. Trailered (rented) to longer distances. Probably driven less than 150 miles per year (generally no further than 20 miles from the house). 123,000 miles on odometer - receipts verified. Casey

#2 with yet to be determined #3. It was 50 degrees today and I started her up and took her for a drive. What a blast! My restoration is recent and the freshly rebuilt engine has less than 100 miles. The odometer reads just over 41,000, so I assume that's probably 141,000.

#2 Weekend driver.

Odometer says 39K. I assume its 139K (239K?). Original engine. Engine was rebuilt about 10K miles ago by previous owner (who did a great restoration on whole car).

I drive it as often as possible. It is not my daily driver, however year #1 I put close to 4,000 miles on it and year #2 put 3,500. Most of those miles are back and forth to town and short drives. I take it to alot of shows but only within a short distance from home. If we are taking it on a 250 mile trip to a show, it goes on a trailer. It is what I call a vacation car.

We bought the car with 73,000 original miles. We have added another 7,500 miles.

I would say a #2 that we enjoy taking to local car shows (but I wouldn't classify her as a "show car" ) Had about 68,000 miles on the odometer when we bought her last February and based on condition we assume it's at least 168,000 (if not more).

I'm in the #1 category ... primary driver. I'm also hoping to add a/c before the SoCal weather starts getting too warm ...

Mine is absolutley a daily driver. It is a non-posi car so there are some exciting times in the snow. Normally it does not snow much or often in Albuquerque, but this year has been the wildest I have seen.

#2 "Once-in-a-while take it out for a drive" - definitley

#3. Show Car - (any class). - not as much as I like but when I can - would do more if it was a fresh restore - lot's of cruise-ins though - not sure if that falls under Show Car or not.

Mileage reads about 33,000, actual seems to be 133,000.

Paul,

My Highland Green Cs is a show car. It is rarely driven and is trailered to the shows. It is in concourse condition. The odometer shows 118,000 miles.

My Lime Gold CS is currently being restored. It will be driven and shown. It had a rebuilt speedometer that had been reset to zero, so I don't know the mileage.

Paul; Having been the original owner's of our GT/CS it was one of our primary vehicles early on. Since 1988 it was replaced with other autos that had more creature comforts so it was consequently garaged. In 1989 this GT/CS was given a complete make-over; new vinyl top, paint, complete interior, new weather stripping, front and rear glass along with new suspension and so on. It was then kept in the garage and not driven. During 2005 our GT/CS was prepared for car shows. The only time it is driven is to local car shows (#3) or special gatherings i.e. Grass Valley BBQ. It currently has 169,000 miles.

Mine is a #2. Odometer reads 48,000 but guessing it's probably 148,000. Original 302 gone, replaced with a '65 289 in 1988 by previous owner.
