1968 How many Original GT/CS are in existence?

3867/(1483*2) = 76.7% still around...??? Paul Newitt looked for decades, and yes some keep coming to light, but I'd say the x2 is optimistic... no one will ever know for sure but I'd say "about half" still exist... impressive for cars pushing 50 years old. Maybe a couple hundred out there in...

1968 C code air cleaner base stud

Yeah, its an odd dual-diameter-with-a-nut-in-the-middle. I'll find the right part, not a "weld a few bits together that work" type... If I was if I ever sell it I'd be fodder for the "guess what the PO did..." posts!

    1968 Interior Paint

    1968 Interior Paint

I found over a base coat of Semigloss black about 4 passes from a good 12"+ away from the panel left a good match to the OEM parts I had, using the NPD paint. After painting (on a warm day) the surface was a bit rough as the paint went on a bit "dry", but after letting it cure for a day a wipe...

    1968 Vinyl roof seam location

    1968 Brake Line leak

Cut the damaged line if needed and pull the block. Put the rounded nut (or even a non rounded) in a bench vice and use a crescent wrench (with some padding) on the block to turn the nut. Never failed. (but hard to get to the middle one) Or you can put the block in a vice, put on a flare...

    1968 Vinyl roof seam location

Installed a top on my GT/CS a while ago and did not look at this too carefully. The seam on the vinyl roof fell about 2" down the pillar. Which seemed reasonable. Went to install a second top a few days ago and it is cut in such a way that the seam has to fall almost at the upper windscreen...

1968 C code air cleaner base stud

Can someone measure their carb stud, the one the wingnut goes on to hold the base/lid down. On mine I just put a correct carb I got on and the stud is 1" too tall. The tip is about 2 1/2" above the lid and the threads stop about 1" above the top of the lid... and yes, there is the ~1" spacer...

    1968 Correct grille color?

As the ones noted are not avaialable here I found a OEM Ford color a local auto parts store could mix up in a rattle can. Dark Titanum Metallic, I think it was a 80's or 90's color they pulled off thier system.
