Hi Guys .Just dropping a short line to introduce myself.I have been a member of this forum for a few months but always scared to make a post about my car. Was not sure if it was a clone or not.Got my marti report today and confirmed what I had hoped.
Any way to cut a long story short , a few months ago I finally purchased my first mustang after 2 years of overtime saving.Initialy I was after a 66coupe, but along came what was suppossedly a genuine california special. It was at the right price and had been converted to right hand drive.(us aussies drive on the wrong side of the road)It was 16k which is all I could afford.Body was rust free and very straight .Paint was very bad. At present I am in the process of stripping it back ready to paint it possibly candy apple red.It was lime green.
This car is my midlife crises that I had to have and am enjoying it.I have enjoyed reading the forums on this site on a daily basis.I am going to try and attach a photo of the car before I started to remove peices of the car.You may note that a few things are not quite right. No Hood locks, No lucas or marchal lights and in someones wisdom they fiberglassed the sidevents to the car.
Sorry to bore you all but I am exited.

Welcome to the group. When you strip the car, be careful not to break the side scoops. Original ones are hard to come by. The first CS I ever saw was owned by a friend who fiberglassed the end caps to the quarter panels because he thought it looked better. The things we do when we're young!

Hey VMAN! Welcome to the site, and I hope that you can register your GT/CS either here, or at my mailing address.

There was a registered CS in Melbourne (a very beautiful, historical OZ city) many years ago--it might be your car. Would you like to share the VIN (Vehicle Number, i.e. "8R01......") with us. It might already be in the GT/CS Registry.

Lime Green to Red? That happens all the time here in the US! LOL!....then they brought it out again for 2005! Lime Gold looks quite nice when it's new--and the white stripes set it off. High gloss even looks better on that color. In fact, it was the no. 1 color in 1968 for Mustangs. But red....oh, I understand. It's a favourite.

Ask away about anything that you're up to. We have some parts sources, and some owners may be willing to sell or part with something that might have.

Have you talked to "GT Bandit"? He's from OZ, too!

Welcome...and comment at any time.

Welcome vman. I too refer to my car as my midlife crisis. There is nothing like a spin in the CS to boost my spirits.
