..... Next time...next time.
There has got to be a "next time"!
...After an incredible Saturday night meeting Cory, Trina, Jace and Steve Wick, the stage was set for an outstanding Sunday, though activities had to be early as Rob needed to catch his plane for home at 3 pm from Sacramento.
We were up at 7am preparing the eggs, bacon, potatoes, fruit, coffee, coffee, coffee and coffee with assist from Carol, Renee and Deana. Karen and Ralph Powell arrived at 9:00 in the pretty '08 followed by Ron Moore, Roy Christiansen and Robert Murphy in two more GT/CSs (totaling eleven). Rob Campbell and Steve Wick were already (you guessed it) raising hoods and working on cars...
Scott Benhcke arrived soon after I got the call that Cory and family were waiting down the road for escort. I jumped in the truck to guide them in as Renee was putting the bacon on the BBQ (lined with foil). When we returned, breakfast was almost ready, but when we went to get the bacon - grease dumped onto the burners and the whole unit became a raging inferno!
I closed the lid thinking that would smother it, but no.... Flaming grease dropped onto the propane tanks below and threatened our immediate vaporization! It took me plowing through four cars to remember where I put that damned foam extinguisher (the same type I gave Donna for power steering preservation) before returning to find Renee with the lid up, flames six feet in all directions, hurriedly trying to transfer contents into a pan (that was also flaming) with literally every extremity in the middle of the fire! (I hope somebody got pictures ;-) I then foamed the grille & doused the flames as curious neighbors scratched their heads from a safe distance.
She did it!.....'Literally "saved our bacon" and the breakfast was perfect!
On the day before, Rob had given her the nickname; "Fast lane Foster" after trying to keep up with her on the way up from the airport.
Today, she became "Flaming Foster" - in forever redemption of "Fainting Foster" after her inauguration into GT/CS ownership almost a year ago;-)
Too cool!... and by 11:00, it was time to honor Cory, Trina and Jace before the official book signing!
In addition to making the most classy name badges for everyone in attendance, Ralph & Karen Powell presented Cory with a beautiful hand-made trophy they lovingly crafted with a die-cast model of the vary car that was our backdrop (and like Cory's own) with a standing applause on a red-carpet stage complete with "director's" chair and patriotic round table. Very kind words were also spoken of Jon, our webmaster and the HUGE appreciation of everyone in our family who gave us this magical and dynamic weekend!
Book signing by everyone present then began in earnest.......
